The State Statistics Service (Ukrstat) is a specially authorised central executive authority in the field of statistics, whose activities are directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. Ukrstat participates in the formulation of state policy in the field of statistics and ensures its implementation.
The State Statistics Service collects, processes, and disseminates statistical information on social and economic trends, and also participates in international statistical cooperation.
The compilation and publication of information must comply with international standards. This means that statistical data must be comparable and methodologically sound.
The State Statistics Service exercises its powers directly and through its territorial divisions established in accordance with the prescribed procedure: 25 main statistical offices in the regions and the city of Kyiv (excluding territorial bodies located in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol) and the Centre for Statistical Data Processing (CSDP).
